Special Note for use in protecting Electronics, Home Entertainment & Gaming Equipment Your new SafetyGate Professional is an excellent choice for protecting your valuable electronics from the constant on-off cycling caused by power company outages. Often times these outages happen while you are at work or away. Much like a light bulb being constantly turned on and off, the life of your equipment is measurably reduced… and even though you may turn off your gear at the remote, many devices remain on in "Standby" mode. In this mode, power is still connected to your equipment making it susceptible to serious damage from constant on-off cycling. Your SafetyGate will sense a power outage and stop the electrical on & off "hits" from damaging your gear.
Please Note:
When power is interrupted and your SafetyGate is in "protect" mode, it needs to make sure that you have turned everything off before it will reset. Some types of equipment do not have a "true" or "hard" on-off switch, and though you may have it in the off position, it still may be using power for clocks, lighted switches or battery charging. If this is the case, your SafetyGate will refuse to reset because it is still seeing a power draw.
The solution is simple:
If your equipment does not have a hard switch, simply use an inexpensive power strip with a on off switch. Attach the SafetyGate to the power strip's plug and plug your most important electronics into the strip. You now can protect several pieces of non safety related equipment with a single SafetyGate. When you experience a power loss and the SafetyGate is lit, simply turn the power strip switch to "off" and then back "on" when you are ready. The SafetyGate is reset when its yellow LED is off.
